Every Monday, John Nagel of CardinalsFarm.com will provide StlSportsMinute.com with a St. Louis Cardinals Weekly Farm report. This will name a player and pitcher of the week in the Cardinals' farm system and will also run through each team and talk about players who have had good weeks, bad weeks, and also player movement.
Week 3 covers games from May 20th to May 26th
Player of the Week: Kolten Wong: .478, 9 R, 3 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 1 SB
Pitcher of the Week: Jonathan Cornelius: 8 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K
Memphis Redbirds (AAA)
The Memphis Redbirds finished the week with a 4-3 record. Kolten Wong returned to regular action and, as you can see from the player of the week award, he has been on fire. Wong has a 14-game hitting streak headed into Monday. The Redbirds starting rotation received a make-over this week with the additions of Scott McGregor and Richard Castillo. McGregor takes over for Tyler Lyons and Castillo will most likely take over for Michael Wacha. A couple of major league veterans were released this past week, catcher J.R. Towles and reliever Barret Browning.

Springfield Cardinals (AA)
The Springfield Cardinals finished the week with a 2-4 record. Tommy Pham, one of Springfield's hottest hitters at the time of his injury, returned from the DL this past week. The Springfield pitching staff was hit hard with the departures of McGregor and Castillo to Memphis and Michael Blazek to St. Louis. Ryan Sherriff and Scott Gorgen will pitch in the rotation and Lee Stoppelman will pitch out of the bullpen. Xavier Scruggs leads the Texas League in home runs, but srikeouts continue to be a problem. He has struck out 16 times in the last 10 games and 55 times in 42 games this year.

Palm Beach Cardinals (A+)
The Palm Beach Cardinals finished the week with a 3-4 record. As of Sunday, Palm Beach had won two in a row, even though they only scored 3 runs in those games. Jonathan Cornelius pitched another gem on Saturday and newly promoted Corey Baker led the way on Sunday. Jonathan Rodriguez is the Beach Birds' hottest hitter, hitting over .400 in his past 10 games. Top 10 prospect Anthony Garcia is really struggling. In his past 10 games, Garcia is hitting .081 and just .193 on the season. Garcia is still young, 21, but needs to turn it around soon. The previously mentioned Corey Baker will be one to watch as he transitions to the rotation.

Peoria Chiefs (A-)
The Peoria Chiefs finished the week with a 4-2 record. I hear your frustrations with Tyrell Jenkins, and I understand them. He pitches a complete game shutout one game and the next struggles to get out of the 5th and loses his command. Remember, he is still young and very raw. Have faith. Like Springfield, the Peoria pitching staff took a couple of hits with the losses of Corey Baker and Kurt Heyer to Palm Beach. I would believe the next to go is Zach Petrick. He is 5th in the Cardinals organization in strikeouts, and he is a closer. Patrick Wisdom's average is floating right around the Mendoza line. If he can get that average up and show better contact he could be on his way to Palm Beach soon as well.
