The No. 17 ranked Missouri Tigers traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Wednesday night to take on the LSU Tigers in search of its first road victory of the season. Win-less in their previous road attempts, the Tigers were looking to get in the win column against a LSU team that entered the game just 10-7 on the season and 1-5 in SEC play.
Unfortunately, Mizzou's road woes continued on Wednesday night as the Tigers fell to LSU 73-70.
Mizzou continued the trend it exhibited in previous road games and fell behind LSU early and trailed by 16 points at the under four minute timeout in the first half.
Mizzou trailed 39-26 at the half and continued to cut into the lead throughout the second half. After a 10-0 run that was led by point guard Phil Pressey and shooting guard Jabari Brown, the Tigers trailed LSU by just four points with 13:41 to play and were back into the game.
Unfortunately, Mizzou never captured the lead or even forced a tie the rest of the way as LSU hung on for the victory.
Pressey led the Tigers with 25 points on nine of 21 shooting from the floor. Pressey also dealt out five assists, grabbed four rebounds, and recorded four steals. Pressey did struggle from behind the arc, knocking down just one of his nine attempts from deep.
Brown chipped in 19 points and seven rebounds of his own while hitting four of his 10 attempts from downtown.
Laurence Bowers returned to lineup on Wednesday night after missing five games with a knee injury. Bowers started the game, played 32 minutes, and scored 10 points while grabbing six rebounds in the loss.
LSU was paced by point guard Anthony Hickey, who led the Tigers with 20 points and four assists in the victory. LSU guard Andre Stringer scored 18 points and forward Johnny O'Bryant III scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
The loss moves Mizzou's record to 15-5 on the season and 4-3 in SEC play.
