With it being the time of year to be thankful for things, St. Louis Cardinals fans should be thankful for their current ownership group. When you have an owner and President down in Miami, who just spit in the fans faces a couple of nights ago by trading pretty much all of their top players and their best beer vendor, Cardinals fans should simply rejoice at how lucky they truly are.
The Cardinals ownership group, led by Bill DeWitt Jr., have done a phenomenal job over the last 16 years running the St. Louis Cardinals organization. In the sixteen years since the DeWitt's took over the team, the Cardinals have 16 different titles to their name.
3 – Wild Card berths
8 – Central Division Titles
3 – NL Pennants
2 – World Series Titles
The DeWitt’s bought a polished organization and have done nothing but shine it up even more. They have resisted the urge to dump salary or blow up rosters. They have resisted to over pay for players (i.e. Albert Pujols).
Have there been some mistakes? Yes! But they are few and far between.
The Miami Marlins were one of the biggest jokes in the league before their ugly uniforms and new stadium made their debuts last season. Now, after this trade, there is not a doubt in anyone's mind that the Miami Marlins are the biggest joke in Major League Baseball.
If Bud Selig had any marbles what so ever, he would do something about the disaster down in Florida. He won’t and the greedy owner down there will make his millions and the fans and citizens of Miami will suffer.
So Cardinals fans, this holiday season, be thankful that we have owners that stand behind their organization and fans and not with their greedy hands in your pocket and whispering lies into your ear.
