The St. Louis Cardinals have one of the classiest, most traditional uniforms in all of Major League Baseball.
The "Birds on the Bat" is nearly as recognizable as the pinstripes on the the New York Yankees uniform.
The two franchises, who are first and second in all-time World Series championships, have stayed away from the fad of creating alternate jerseys. Both have kept with their traditional uniform and have kept things simple. That is, until now.
On Friday, the Cardinals organization announced the addition of a third, alternate white jersey to be worn for Saturday home games.
The champagne white jersey has a retro feel and includes "St. Louis" across the front of the jersey as opposed to "Cardinals."
The jersey also features red piping, another change from the Cardinals traditional, clean look. Check out the video below, which talks about the new look.
It should be interesting to see the reaction of Cardinals fans to the new look. Traditionalists may like the look for the jersey, but may also hate that the Cardinals are straying from the simple whites and grays they have sported for years.
