Yadier Molina claims fifth Gold Glove Award

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina was recognized last week and awarded the Fielding Bible Award, an award given out by Peter Gammons, Bill James and some other prominent baseball historians and journalists to the best defensive players at each position throughout baseball.

On Tuesday, Molina added some more hardware that proves he is the best defensive player of his generation at his position.

Yadier Molina won his fifth consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove Award on Tuesday evening.

Molina threw out 46 percent of the runners who attempted to steal off him this season and helped guide the Cardinals pitching staff to yet another deep post-season appearance.

On top of his defensive accomplishments, Molina had a career year at the plate, driving in 76 runs and belting 22 home runs while hitting .315 on the season, fourth best in the National League.

Congrats to Yadier Molina for yet another Gold Glove Award as he continues to build his resume as possibly the best catcher in Cardinals franchise history.
