According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN.com on Sunday evening, there is plenty of interest around the league in acquiring Steven Jackson via trade and the Rams have fielded offers for the franchise's all-time leading rusher.
Teams such as the Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, and Pittsburgh Steelers could covet Jackson's services as the trade deadline nears on Tuesday.
Jackson has been the face of the Rams franchise for years, easily the team's best player. He has rushed for 9,473 yards and 53 touchdowns during his Rams career.
Some Rams fans would find it silly to trade Jackson, who is still the team's number one option in the backfield despite the emergence of rookie Daryl Richardson.
Trading Jackson might not be a popular decision among Rams fans, but for both the player and the franchise it may make some sense.
The Rams could send Jackson to a contender and give the 29 year old horse a chance to win a Super Bowl for the first time in his career. The Rams could also receive the future draft compensation necessary to continue the rebuilding process head coach Jeff Fisher has started.
It should be interesting to see what the Rams do as the trade deadline approaches. Rams fans favorite player may not be wearing the blue and gold for much longer.
