Jeff Fisher recommends London experience despite loss

The St. Louis Rams were absolutely drubbed this weekend by the New England Patriots in a 45-7 beating that took place in London.  Much was made leading up to the game being played across the pond and how it affects a team's preparation, performance, and post-London recovery.

Unfortunately, head coach Jeff Fisher's Rams did not look like they prepared or performed very well in a trouncing at the hands of Tom Brady and company.

Yet, the coach is saying the right things about the experience, even going as far as suggesting other teams should play in the game in the future.

“We appreciate the whole experience,” Fisher said. “The experience was incredible. Everybody associated with this game treated us like kings. It’s a great ball game and I would strongly recommend this game to the other member clubs of the National Football League.“

With a lot of attention being paid to whether the NFL could support a team in London, Fisher is being awfully diplomatic, especially when you consider Sunday's result.

Fisher's "treated us like kings" statement likely will not sit well with Rams fans in St. Louis, who are already anxious about the future of the franchise as the team and the city's convention authority continue to hash out negotiations regarding upgrades to team's facilities.  The fact that owner Stan Kroenke, who also owns Arsenal of the English Premier League, could uproot and move the team if the lease is broken makes Rams fans angry.

Watching the Rams get pounded thousands of miles away while sacrificing a chance to see them up close and in person at the Edward Jones Dome also does not sit well with Rams supporters in St. Louis.  The Rams are 3-1 at the Dome thus far this season and that home field advantage may have made a difference.

Fisher may be recommending other teams try London in the future for now, but if his team, and namely his defensive line, continues the lackluster play they displayed at Wembley Stadium, he may want to rethink his stance on the experience.
