Everybody knows how good St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is defensively. Molina has won four consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove Awards and took home the Platinum Glove Award last season, given to the league's best defender at any position.
But Molina isn't a one trick pony anymore.
The dude can absolutely mash at the plate too.
Molina has been so good offensively that it brings up the question, is Yadier Molina also the best offensive catcher in all of Major League Baseball.
It is obvious that Molina is the best defensive catcher in baseball, but his offensive stats and overall importance to the Cardinals team might make him the best offensive catcher too, making him worth every penny of the $75 million the Cardinals gave him last off-season.
Molina ranks third among all catchers with his .316 average. He is second among catchers in home runs with 12 and first with 44 RBI's.
Molina is also known for being extremely slow, but he leads all Major League catchers with seven stolen bases as well.
Molina has transformed himself into not only the best defensive catcher in the league but also the best offensive catcher in the league. Molina should be recognized as one of the best players in all of Major League Baseball.
Cardinals general manger John Mozeliak knew what he was doing when he gave Molina the contract.
If Molina keeps producing like he has thus far in 2012, the deal will turn out to be a steal for the Cardinals.
