Cardinals wear tacky tuxedos

Last season the St. Louis Cardinals got a lot of attention for the turtlenecks they wore on a West Coast trip.  The matching ensemble of hideous clothing was orchestrated by veteran first baseman Lance Berkman.

Berkman evidently has made "dressing up" on West Coast trips tradition.

The Cardinals arrived at AT&T Park on Thursday afternoon wearing something possibly more silly than turtlenecks.  The entire team showed up at the park wearing some "tacky tuxedos," continuing Berkman's new tradition.

Jason Motte tweeted a picture of the group after the game as they headed to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers.
The tradition led by Berkman, who is usually either playing pranks on teammates like Adam Wainwright or speaking his mind openly to the media about something, seemed to work in 2011, as it resulted in a World Series Championship.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals on Thursday, the "tacky tuxedos' resulted in three defensive errors and a 7-5 loss to the Giants and continued a trend that has seen the Cardinals drop five of their last seven games.

Despite the loss, the "tacky tuxedos" are quite hilarious.  Check out this picture of World Series MVP David Freese with Berkman.
