As Peyton Manning news filled the wirelines across the NFL over the past several days, the St. Louis Rams quietly sat with the number two pick in the draft. The number two pick that granted them the rights to draft Robert Griffin III, the Heisman Trophy winning quarterback out of Baylor.
It was obvious that the Rams would trade the pick to the highest bidder, considering they already had a franchise quarterback in Sam Bradford. It was just unclear as to when they would pull the trigger and make the move.
According to a tweet from Jay Glazer of FoxSports.com, the trigger was pulled on Friday night.

The Rams traded the number two overall pick in April's NFL Draft to the Washington Redskins in exchange for the Redskins first round pick this year, which is sixth overall. The Rams also will receive the Redskins first round picks in each of the next two drafts as well as the Redskins second round pick this season.
The deal is agreed to in principle but cannot be signed off on until the league year officially starts on Tuesday at 4 pm.
So while Peyton Manning will continue his tour to find his next home, Redskins fans know who is coming to Washington D.C. Robert Griffin III will be the franchise quarterback the Redskins have been looking for.
Meanwhile, the Rams position themselves to draft two more high profile players to help rebuild under new head coach Jeff Fisher.
