Frank Haith and his University of Missouri basketball team were hoping to obtain a number one seed when the NCAA Tournament field was announced on Sunday night.  At the very least, Haith and the Tigers were hoping to land in the Midwest Regional with a chance to play the second weekend of the tournament in St. Louis.

Unfortunately for Haith, neither of those wishes materialized as Mizzou was sent out West as the number two see in the West Regional played in Phoenix, Arizona.

Mizzou goes down as having the most wins, 30, by a school from one of the major conferences not to receive a number one seed.   Only Kentucky with 32 wins and Syracuse with 31 victories won more games than Mizzou during the season.

So while the Tigers were 4-1 against teams with a Top 10 RPI and 11-3 against teams with a Top 50 RPI, the committee failed to reward the Tigers with a one seed and did not even cut them a break geographically.

After the brackets were released, Haith shrugged off not getting a number one seed, but Haith expressed to Vahe Gregorian of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he was disappointed to not be in the St. Louis Regional.
"There's no question we would have loved to play in St. Louis."
So Mizzou will pack up their bags and head West in a quest to reach their first Final Four in school history.
