The University of Missouri men's basketball team has had a season to remember. During their first season under head coach Frank Haith, Mizzou has compiled a 27-4 record on the season and have been ranked among the nation's top ten teams in the polls for most of the season.
It truly has been a special season for Tigers' hoops fans.
So as Mizzou readies to begin Big 12 Conference Tournament play for the last time in the school's history, Haith's senior laden team has a lot on the line and still could possibly earn a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament.
ESPN's latest version of Bracketology currently has Mizzou as a number two seed in the NCAA Tournament. But Mizzou still has a chance to move up.
In order for Mizzou to garner a number one seed, not only must the Tigers be good this weekend in Kansas City, they may also need some help. I'm not talking about one of the other number one seeds losing. I'm talking about Mizzou not only winning the conference tournament, but also winning the tournament by meeting and beating hated rival Kansas in the championship game.
In order for Mizzou to catapault and see themselves on that number one line on Selection Sunday, the Tigers must take care of business and hope that Bill Self's Kansas Jayhawks do their part and meet them in the Championship game. Then, if Mizzou wants that number one seed, they simply must beat Kansas and take the season series against the Jayhawks.
Mizzou opens Big 12 Conference Tournament play by taking on Oklahoma State, who beat the Tigers in Stillwater, Oklahoma earlier this season.
Mizzou must not overlook the Cowboys on Thursday night because if they do, we have already seen that they can lose to the inferior Oklahoma State bunch.
But how fun is it knowing that Mizzou, in their last Big 12 Conference Tournament ever, is playing for a chance to earn a number one seed?
Lets hope, at the very least, for the sake of college basketball, that the Tigers get their shot and meet Kansas for a third time on Saturday.

We are more than capable of beating any team in the big 12 if we play well, no turnovers!
