Mizzou gets two seed in West Regional

Frank Haith's Missouri Tigers have had an absolutely outstanding season.

After finishing off the Baylor Bears for the third time this season to claim the Big 12 Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday night, many were unsure whether the Tigers resume warranted a one seed or a two seed in this year's NCAA Tournament.

On Selection Sunday, Mizzou Nation got their answer.

Mizzou will travel to the West Regional as the number two seed in this year's NCAA Tournament.

After compiling a 30-4 record, including a 4-1 record against the RPI Top 10, Mizzou will face Norfolk State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska.  If Mizzou makes it out of the first weekend they will advance to play their second weekend of games in Phoenix, Arizona.

While the Tigers must not overlook Norfolk State in the first round, the bigger test looks to be further down the road as Mizzou was paired in the West Regional with number one seed Michigan State, number three seed Marquette, and number four seed Louisville.  The second round could pose an interesting test for Mizzou as they may face Florida who oddly received a seven seed.  Not only will Florida be a future SEC opponent next season for the Tigers, but their star player Bradley Beal grew up in St. Louis.

Mizzou has never made it to a Final Four in the school's history and last reached the Elite 8 in 2009 when the current senior class were just freshman.

With this senior laden class, led by leading scorer Marcus Denmon, leading social media star Kim English, and big man Ricardo Ratliffe, Mizzou figures to have a chance to get New Orleans for Final Four weekend.

But it is not going to be easy for the Tigers.

Then again, the 30 wins Mizzou has accumulated this season, third most in the nation, have not been easy either.
