During Friday night's 81-67 win over Texas in the semifinals of the Big 12 Conference Tournament, University of Missouri guard Kim English was having himself quite a game before taking a knee to the upper thigh from a Texas player in the second half.
In fact, English was having a perfect game.
English had hit all nine of his shots from the field, including three bombs from long range before leaving the game with a thigh bruise.
English left the game and spent considerable time running through the hallways of the Sprint Center before returning to the court later in the second half. While able to play, English was visibly limping and finally missed a shot before finishing the game with 23 points.
As the Tigers prepare to face Baylor on Saturday afternoon for the Big 12 Conference Tournament Championship, it is unclear how healthy English will be, which could be a problem for Mizzou as they have only seven active players on scholarship.
It will be interesting to see how English feels when he wakes up in the morning and if he will be able to play against Baylor. Deep bruises, especially thigh bruises, can be difficult to overcome in a short period of time and it would certainly take some guts for English to come out and play through the pain on Saturday.
Mizzou and head coach Frank Haith will need him to play and will need him to be effective if the Tigers have hopes of grabbing a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament and want to win a Big 12 Tournament championship in their last season as a member of the conference.
