Mizzou guard Kim English holds the Big 12 Tournament Trophy up in the air outside of the Sprint Center in Kansas City while sporting an SEC shirt. |
University of Missouri guard turned power forward Kim English had a monster Big 12 Conference Tournament and took home the most valuable player honors in the tournament held in Kansas City.
English followed up a 27 point performance in the first round of the tournament against Oklahoma State and a 23 point outburst against Texas with another 19 points in helping to lead Mizzou to their second Big 12 Conference Tournament Championship in four years with a 90-75 win over Baylor.
English, who is never shy when it comes to social media, celebrated afterwards with his teammates. But English celebrated a little bit differently.
English recognized Mizzou's current and now past affiliation with the Big 12 while also recognizing Mizzou's future home in the SEC by holding up the Big 12 Tournament Championship trophy outside of the Sprint Center in Kansas City while wearing an SEC shirt.
I had a blast in the Big 12 the last 4 years. But my loyalty lies with my University!!!!!!! 2/4 Big 12 titleslockerz.com/s/191423468

Mizzou is certainly proud of their basketball team and the seniors that are leading the team into a possible number one seed in the NCAA tourney.
But its obvious to see that everyone at Mizzou, even the outgoing seniors like English, are proud of the move the University has made to cut ties with the Big 12 by joining the SEC.
If Mizzou is able to make a magical run through the NCAA Tournament, it will be interesting to see what kind of shirt English wears if he gets to hold up an NCAA National Championship trophy.
Mizzou fans can only hope to find it on English's Twitter account.

Proof of how immature and ignorant English is. What a moron.
ReplyDeleteKimmie---you won the tourney twice. You never won the Big XII conference title. In fact, Mizzou never won the conference in the sixteen years of the Big XII.
ReplyDeletecyndy, just ask washington how important the regular season 'title' means. the season decides the seeding, the tourney decides the champion
ReplyDeleteGO TIGERS :D We will miss our seniors... the few that want to bash u, they're just jealous
ReplyDeleteoh forgot to say im pretty certain KU choked :P AND our national rank went to #3, KU to #6! How about giving these guys credit, they've been put down all year or said they couldnt b/c of their size.... and they overcame that to win the Big 12.... SEC was a great decision for recruiting and money for school.... I doubt their concern was about who in the conference that didnt get invited would have a problem with it.
ReplyDeleteSEC didn't want a second conference like KU or K-State wouldhave pulled them down with their football, ladies softball and other sporting teams that MISSOUEI HAS!!
ReplyDeleteThe two best teams in the Big 12 are still in the tournament. MU does have one NCAA record. Most trips to the dance without a Final Four. Also tied with most first round losses as a 2 seed.
