Illini literally cry after blowout loss to Nebraska

The Illinois Fighting Illini's once promising season has come cascading down and has ultimately hit rock bottom and questions regarding the future of Bruce Weber as the team's coach are at an all time high.

And evidently, after getting drubbed 80-57 on the road against a Nebraska team that really is not very good, things came to such a boiling point that many of the Illini players found themselves crying in the locker room, according to AP reports.

Weber was quick to defend the outpouring of emotion by his players after Saturday's game, even though the Illini played with very little emotion against a 12-13 Nebraska team on Saturday and have clearly underachieved all season.
"For the most part all year, we've competed with everybody. I think the doubt just hit us. The weight of the world came tumbling down, and we couldn't stop it."
The Illini have now dropped five in a row and are just 16-11 on the season.  Their NCAA Tournament outlook looks bleak at best.  And things are not going to get any easier for Illinois, who will travel to Ohio State on Tuesday night.

The situation in Champaign is clearly a mess.  Weber has answered speculation publicly about his job, which is never a good sign regarding a coach's future.

And clearly, since they played terrible on the floor and then cried in the locker room afterward, the players are not handling the situation well either.

One can only hope that the situation at Illinois gets fixed quickly.  Either with a huge road win on Tuesday night against Ohio State, or as soon as the season ends with a coaching change.
