St. Louis Blues goalie Jaroslav Halak has been battling opponents all season with loads of success.  Halak has clearly shown this season he is capable of stopping pucks from getting past him, but unfortunately he hasn't been able to escape the ill effects of the flu bug.

Weakened and unlikely to play during the Blues back-to-back afternoon matinees this weekend, the Blues needed to make sure they had a capable back-up to Brian Elliott since it looks like Halak is unavailable.

To fill the void, the Blues have recalled Peoria Riverman goalie Ben Bishop for the first time this season.

Bishop has appeared in 36 games for the Riverman this season, posting a 2.25 goals against average and a 23-13 record on the season.  Bishop was also recently named MVP of the AHL All-Star game.

Bishop appeared in seven games for the Blues in 2010-11, posting a 3-4 record and a 2.77 goals against average.  The highlight of his season came in a 5-0 shutout of the Edmonton Oilers on February 25, 2011.

It is unclear if Bishop will see any time between the pipes in a Blues uniform this weekend but he will be ready in case something happens to Elliott.
