Rams Owner Stan Kroenke Supports Sam Bradford As Franchise QB

After a disappointing second season in the NFL, St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford has started to come under some criticism from outspoken fans and some media.

The NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2010 failed to progress and obviously it was not completely his fault.  Bradford played behind an ineffective and heavily injured offensive line and Bradford himself missed six games with a high ankle sprain.

Yet despite a completion percentage of just 53.5%, a quarterback rating of just 70.5, and just six touchdown passes in ten games played this season, Bradford has the support of the lone man in charge of the Rams organization.

Rams owner Stan Kroenke has cleaned house, firing head coach Steve Spagnuolo and general manager Billy Devaney.  But Kroenke told Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he still believes in the talent and potential of Sam Bradford.
"Sam is a big talent.  Our opinion on Sam hasn't changed."
"Let's be fair to Sam. He hasn't had the players around him."
Of course you would expect Kroenke to support the young player he has invested $76 million into over his first six NFL seasons, $50 million of which is guaranteed.

It would be stupid and nearly asinine of Kroenke and whoever he chooses to come in and lead the Rams to give up on Bradford so quick.

But Kroenke's words do clear one thing up.  The Rams do have the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III out of Baylor will be on the board.  Kroenke's words essentially guarantee that the Rams will not be looking for a quarterback with that pick.

So Kroenke obviously supports Bradford and has basically quieted anyone who may want to speculate that Bradford would not be the franchise quarterback going forward.  Robert Griffin III will not be in St. Louis

Sam Bradford will be here for several more seasons.  St. Louis Rams fans will have to accept this.  If Kroenke can stand behind Bradford, Rams fans should do the same and support their young star that still has the potential to be an elite quarterback in the NFL.

Kroenke has made it clear that Sam Bradford will be the man in St. Louis.

Now it will be up to Kroenke to bring in some leadership capable of developing the young and talented Bradford and have the competence to build a team around him.
