Fresh off of their 87-49 trouncing of Oklahoma in their Big 12 opener, things are not all completely rosy for the Missouri Tigers basketball team.
Sure Mizzou is off to a 14-0 start to the season. Sure Mizzou is ranked sixth in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches Poll. Sure Mizzou is playing at an extremely high level under first year coach Frank Haith. Sure Mizzou will be going to the SEC beginning next season.
Things in Columbia, Missouri, for the most part, are great.
But Tigers fans got bad news on Tuesday when Haith and the University's athletic department announced that redshirt freshman reserve forward Kadeem Green has decided to transfer effective immediately.
Green, who redshirted last season after suffering an Achilles injury, was one of only three Missouri players over six foot, six inches tall to see playing time this season and his departure leads the highly ranked Tigers with just seven scholarship players.
Many believe Green wishes to be closer to Toronto, Canada, his hometown. Haith issued a statement on Tuesday, wishing Green well as he transfers.
While used sparingly early in the season Green figured to play a pivotal role as the Tigers got deep into the Big 12 season as they will be desperate for front court depth when they play the likes of Kansas, Texas, and Kansas State.
Green's departure should not be overlooked and he will be missed as the Tigers enter the stretch run of Big 12 conference play for the last time in the school's history.

“We obviously wish Kadeem nothing but the best as he moves forward with this decision. Kadeem made great strides during his time at Mizzou, and we are sad to see him leave the program. This is a decision that did not come easily for Kadeem – he has made a lot of friends and he has really enjoyed his time here at Mizzou. Decisions like this are never easy, but we certainly thank Kadeem for the time that he dedicated to our program and want nothing but the best for him moving forward.”Green appeared in 11 of the Tigers 13 games prior to Tuesday night's win at home against Oklahoma. Green averaged 10.5 minutes, three points, and 3.1 rebounds per game this season for the Tigers. It is unclear exactly where Green will transfer at this point.
