Mizzou Dismantles Oklahoma 87-49 In Big 12 Opener

After a near scare last week in their first true road test against a pesky Old Dominion team, many pundits were interested to see how the undefeated and sixth ranked Missouri Tigers would respond back on their home floor for their Big 12 opener against Oklahoma.

Mizzou responded just like they have in most of their other games this season. They pounded their opponent and this time it was a Big 12 conference rival.  If you watched Tuesday night's game at Mizzou Arena, you know that this Mizzou team is for real.

Mizzou absolutely dismantled the Oklahoma Sooners, who entered the game with a 10-2 record, in route to a 87-49 trouncing to open Big 12 play.

The Tigers, now 14-0 on the season, shot the ball unbelievably well, hitting 12 three pointers and shot 59% from the field for the game.

Senior forward Kim English led the charge for the Tigers, hitting five three pointers while pouring in a team high 23 points.  English also collected a team high nine rebounds.

English was not alone on Tuesday night though as plenty of other Tigers were just as effective.  Leading scorer Marcus Denmon hit four three pointers as well and poured in 20 points while senior forward Ricardo Ratliffe chipped in 13 points and eight rebounds.

For anybody who questioned whether Mizzou would be able to carry their early success on the season into conference play, those questions have been answered.

Frank Haith has this team absolutely rolling and is exceeding all expectations.

But another tough road test is just around the corner.

On Saturday Mizzou will travel to Manhatten, Kansas to take on the 22nd ranked Kansas State Wildcats.  Saturday will be yet another opportunity to see if Haith's Tigers can continue to play at an extremely high level in a difficult environment.
