When the St. Louis Blues acquired Brian Elliott this past off-season, many looked at the move as a nice complement to the Blues starting goalie Jaroslav Halak.

Nobody could have expected that Elliott, not Halak, would end up being an All-Star between the pipes for the St. Louis Blues.

But that is exactly what happened as Elliott was named an All-Star on Thursday.

Elliott will travel to Ottawa, Ontario to represent the St. Louis Blues in the All-Star game to be played on Sunday, January 29th.

Elliott is second in the NHL in both goals against average at 1.62 and save percentage at .940 while posting a 15-5-0 record while in net for the Blues.

Elliott may be splitting time in net with the red-hot Halak for the rest of the season, but he will be the only Blues goalie playing in an All-Star game this season.
