After a slow start in their last outing, a 104-67 dismantling of Kennesaw State earlier in the week, the Missouri Tigers made sure they had a better start when they hosted William & Mary on Sunday afternoon at Mizzou Arena.
The Tigers defense suffocated William & Mary and did not allow the Tribe to score their first point of the game until there were less than nine minutes remaining in the first half.
With that type of start and defensive pressure, Mizzou cruised to a 94-56 victory and improved their unbeaten record to 11-0 on the season.
Mizzou was led offensively by Junior reserve guard Michael Dixon, who scored 30 points off the bench and made 13 of his 19 shots from the floor to lead Mizzou's prolific offensive attack. Dixon's 30 points were a career high and he has continually been a spark plug for the Tigers off the bench.
Most of the usual suspects got into the action for the Tigers too.
Senior forward Kim English scored 17 points for the Tigers while senior forward Ricardo Ratliffe scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Sophomore point guard Flip Pressey scored just six points, but have five assists and zero turnovers in the victory.
Leading scorer Marcus Denmon was held to his lowest point total of the season with just seven points and made just three of 11 shot attempts from the field, including one of seven from three point range. It was the first time this season that Denmon did not have more than 10 points in a game for the Tigers.
The 8th ranked Tigers will next travel to St. Louis to play 19th ranked Illinois in the annual Braggin' Rights Game at the Scottrade Center on Thursday, December 22nd.
