Considering that he has only been with the St. Louis Rams for less than two weeks, newly acquired quarterback and former New York Jets draft pick Kellen Clemens looked pretty decent in a Rams throwback jersey on Sunday afternoon at the Edward Jones Dome.
Clemens completed 25 of his 36 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown. His 95.4 quarterback rating was the higher than any quarterback rating starter Sam Bradford or backup A.J. Feeley have posted this season.
Unfortunately for the Rams, despite Clemens and his acceptable play under center, the Rams still found a way to lose 20-13 to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Even though Clemens had a good afternoon, Clemens looked rusty on third down as the Rams were able to convert just two out of 13 third down opportunities in the loss.
Clemens acknowledged that third down was a big reason for the Rams losing a very winnable game against Cincinnati.
On a day when the Rams honored Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk, Jackson made sure to remind everyone that he too has the total package.
The Rams also got offensive contributions from wide receiver Danario Alexander, who caught three passes for 52 yards, including a 25 yard touchdown from Clemens late in the fourth quarter.
Defensively the Rams held the Bengals to less than 300 total yards. Defensive end Chris Long, who is among NFL leaders in sacks on the season, registered two tackles on the day, including his 13th sack of the season.
Rams rookie defensive end Robert Quinn also contributed, blocking his third punt of the season in the loss.

"Third down was obviously an issue. Very unacceptable. So, I'll start there and I'll stop."While Clemens was a bright spot for the Rams on Sunday, so was Rams running back Steven Jackson. The three time Pro Bowler put his whole game on display. Jackson rushed the ball 18 times for 71 yards and also had nine pass receptions for an additional 72 yards receiving.
