Nobody saw this coming. I mean nobody. Not even Charlie Sheen and his "tiger blood" could have predicted that new coach Frank Haith could have the University of Missouri men's basketball team flying this high. That pun was clearly intended.
But it is happening.
Coming off a week that saw Mizzou beat Villanova by ten points in front of a national audience at Madison Square Garden in New York and then a lopsided victory over Navy at home on Saturday, the Tigers saw themselves once again creeping higher up the national rankings.
Mizzou is ranked 8th in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, moving up two spots from last week.
The Tigers, now with a 9-0 record on the season, will have two tests this week. The Tigers will host Kennesaw State on Thursday night before taking on William & Mary on Sunday afternoon at Mizzou Arena.
This weeks two games are the Tigers final tune-ups before the annual and highly anticipated Braggin' Rights game with Illinois, who is also undefeated and ranked 19th in the same poll.
Hopefully for Mizzou fans, Haith's bunch will not overlook the two games this week before the showdown with Illinois in St. Louis.
