The St. Louis Rams, coming into a home contest at the Edward Jones Dome against the Cincinnati Bengals, will be missing their star, second year quarterback.
Sam Bradford will likely miss Sunday's game against the Bengals with a high ankle sprain he aggravated in last week's loss on the road to the Seattle Seahawks.
So, with a 2-11 record on the season and with back-up quarterback A.J. Feeley also injured, the Rams will turn to waiver wire pick-up Kellen Clemens to take snaps under center and hopefully lead the team to their third victory of the season in front of the home crowd.
Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who has been rumored to be a serious candidate for the Kansas City Chiefs vacant head coaching gig, says that Clemens has done the things necessary to prepare for the opportunity and feels comfortable with him leading the Rams offense.
Clemens best season was in 2007, when he played in 10 games for the Jets, throwing for 1,529 yards, five touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
The opportunity will be an audition for Clemens who be looking to catch on as a regular back-up for somebody next season.
For head coach Steve Spanuolo and the rest of the Rams coaches, it is a deesperation game as the team needs a victory in order to try and win back a fan base that has started clamoring for changes.

“Kellen’s done a nice job. Being such a short time here and now he’s really had two practices kind of with the first group in the huddle. He’s shown some maturity, a lot of leadership for just being here. He knows the best way for him to go out there and give us an opportunity to play good football is to show his teammates he knows what to do. He’s responsible for his job and I think that generally that’s what he’s done, which is impressive. Hopefully we’ll have an opportunity here to see what it’s like on Sunday if that’s the way it ends up going. I think everybody’s got confidence in him at practice. He’s built the respect of the teammates over the last week here and we’ll carry it through on Sunday if that’s where we go.”Clemens has turned into a bit of journeyman quarterback after being given a chance with the New York Jets after college. But Clemens has struggled during his six NFL seasons.
