Many St. Louis Rams fans, increasingly frustrated with this year's 2-13 performance thus far on the field, are looking to place blame on anybody and everybody. Rams fans have cast blame on the coaching staff, on the general manager, and yes, even on second year quarterback Sam Bradford.
Bradford, who is still nursing a high ankle sprain, has clearly struggled during his second season in the NFL. Bradford has completed just 53.6% of his passes this season, down 60% during his rookie campaign. Additionally Bradford has found targets in the end zone on just six occassions in ten games while throwing six interceptions as well.
While Bradford has struggled and some have began to blame him, many are speculating about what seems like the inevitable. Rams owner Stan Kroenke will not sit silent forever and will certainly have a decision to make after Sunday's season finale against the San Francisco 49ers regarding the futures of general manager Billy Devaney and the coaching staff, including head coach Steve Spagnuolo.
One of those members of the coaching staff, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, was not shy when talking about the future of the St. Louis Rams. And that future, according to McDaniels, in no uncertain terms, is named Sam Bradford.
McDaniels praised Bradford, who is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game at the Edward Jones Dome, telling reporters that Bradford still has what it takes to be a big-time quarterback in the NFL.
And if McDaniels, along with wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, who told reporters he will follow McDaniels whever he goes, are able to come back next season, it could be good for Bradford.
Bradford and McDaniels never got a full off-season to get to know each other and work together and it still intriguing to think about what could happen if the two could eventually click.
It likely won't happen. Nor should it when you consider the Rams 2-13 record.
But at least somebody besides St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist Bernie Miklasz is publicly supporting Bradford. Unfortunately, Miklasz and Bradford will likely be the only one's left in St. Louis for next season.

"Sam is an extremely talented player. Nothing that's happened this year has changed Sam Bradford's future or his outlook going forward. I think in some ways, going through seasons of adversity can really be a positive for a young player or a coach or anybody, for that matter, in your life."
"Nothing comes easy. Sometimes it's good to learn those lessons young so that it makes you really understand, and you really cherish the opportunity to continue to do it and try to get better. And then when you do have a chance to be successful and win big, you know how hard you worked and how much it took for you to get there. ... I still think he's got a bright future."While the future of Josh McDaniels in St. Louis seems to be uncertain, it is clear to see that McDaniel's thinks highly of Bradford.
