Rams Offensive Tackle Rodger Saffold Out For The Season

The St. Louis Rams have certainly suffered from the injury bug this season.  The Rams have seen the likes of Bradley Fletcher and Al Harris suffer season ending injuries while on the field.

Before Sunday's embarrassing 24-7 loss at home to the Seattle Seahawks, the Rams found out they lost another key player for the season.  This time, the injury was not suffered on the field, but instead, in the weight room.

The Rams placed second year offensive tackle Rodger Saffold on injured reserve for the rest of the season.

Saffold tore his pectoral muscle during a weight lifting session on Friday.  The injury requires surgery to fix the issue and he will miss the rest of the season.

Saffolds is the second tackle to go down to injury as Jason Smith has missed several weeks with a concussion. While Smith has not been put on injured reserve thus far, his status for the rest of the season is in doubt as well.

The Rams offensive line has been an issue for most of the season, even with a healthy Saffold, who has regressed after a stellar rookie campaign.

And while quarterback Sam Bradford continued to get dropped like pinata while standing in the pocket like a statue in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks, the Rams offense surely will continue to struggle with Saffold on the shelf for the rest of the season.
