Just when it looked like St. Louis Rams wide receiver Greg Salas was truly figuring things out at the NFL level, his season came to screeching end.

Salas broke his leg in the Rams 19-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals and will miss the remainder of the season.

The injury happened in the fourth quarter of the loss after Salas had made his seventh reception of the afternoon.

Salas had quickly molded himself into the Rams top option in the slot and had essentially replaced the production of injured wide receiver Danny Amendola.

Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo acknowledged that Salas was making a huge impact and that replacing him will be difficult.
“Yeah, unfortunately, I thought a lot of these guys were progressing. Greg has been a guy that we’ve been going to, an inside slot guy that we know don’t have.”
Salas is the team's current leader in receptions with 27 on the season for 264 yards.  The Rams drafted Salas in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

The rookie wide receiver will soon undergo surgery on the broken leg.
