St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese had a World Series performance to remember and was rightfully awarded the World Series MVP trophy for his contributions towards the Cardinals eleventh World Series Championship in franchise history.
Today, it was announced that Freese would receive another award. An award which is named after one of the greatest baseball players in the history of the game.
David Freese was named the winner of the Babe Ruth Award, which goes to the player who was the most valuable to their team throughout the post-season.
The Babe Ruth award is given out by the New York Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.
Freese is a rightful recipient of the award. In 18 playoff games, Freese hit .397 with five home runs and 21 RBI's and was the savior in the epic Game 6 of the World Series on two occasions.
Freese has had a lot of fun since the end of the World Series. The St. Louis Blues honored Freese, Chris Carpenter, and Tony La Russa last Friday night at the Scottrade Center. Freese also appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and also has plans on presenting an award at the Country Music Awards later this month.
Now Freese can also attend a dinner in New York and pick up his Babe Ruth Award in January.
