Albert Pujols officially became a free agent on Sunday, just two days after he won his second World Series Championship as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals.
On Thursday, Pujols officially becomes a free agent that is able to speak with every major league team about where he is going to play baseball next season.
But before the true uncertainty about number five's future in St. Louis begins, Pujols had a feel good day in St. Louis.
Outside his "Pujols 5" restaurant in suburban Maryland Heights, Missouri, a 10 foot statue of the slugging first baseman was unveiled.
The statue mimicks Pujols pointing to the sky thanking god, just as he does after he hits every home run.
When asked about his future, Pujols once again referenced god and made it clear it was uncertain where he would be belting home runs next season.
"Hopefully I don't have to make that decision. We're just going to see where God takes us. I don't want to get ahead of God's plan and say, `Oh, we're going to be here,' and then something happens and I look bad. Whether it's here or wherever, I believe our foundation is going to help the city of St. Louis."So as the clock turns to when Pujols can officially talk with other teams, Pujols will still not hint at where his mind or heart lies at this point.
There is one thing that is certain though. His statue lies in suburban St. Louis.
