The St. Louis Blues have been in Western Canada since Wednesday. So they have been far away from the winning ways seen in St. Louis over the past three days.
The Blues were unable to follow in the footsteps of the World Series winning St. Louis Cardinals or even in the upset minded track of the St. Louis Rams.
Instead, the Blues dropped their second straight game and ended their three game road trip with a 4-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
Goalie Jaroslav Halak got the start between the pipes for the Blues and allowed four Oilers goals, including two to veteran Oilers forward Ryan Smyth.
The struggling netminder now has a 1-5 record on the season and is responsible for all but one loss on the season.
Meanwhile, the Blues got offense from team captain David Backes, who scored his third goal of the season in the second period.
Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo also found the back of the net after crashing the net in a crowd of players. The tally was Petro's second of the season.
Backes led the club with six shots on goal while Roman Polak and Vladimir Sobotka added assists.
The Blues out hit Oilers 24-13 and were even at 30 shots a piece, but the effort was still not enough as the team's record sits at 5-6 on the season.
