Rams Rookies Contribute Very Little In Loss To Cowboys

St. Louis Rams fans watched Dallas Cowboys back-up rookie running back DeMarco Murray torch their defense for 253 yards rushing during the 34-7 thrashing in Texas.  Many fans should begin to analyze how their Rams own rookies performed in their sixth game of their careers.

The analysis should be pretty simple.  To be frank, they were simply non-existent.

Rams rookie wide receiver Greg Salas, a fourth round selection back in the April 2011 NFL Draft, was the only St. Louis Rams rookie to record any official stats worth mentioning.  Salas caught two passes for 33 yards.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Rams draft picks this year contributed very, very little.

First round pick Robert Quinn made zero tackles on the afternoon, but did manage to hit Cowboys quarterback one time.  Third round pick Austin Pettis managed to field a punt without a fumble and returned it for nine yards.  Finally, second round pick Lance Kendricks was targeted just once and did not have a single reception.

The Rams have six laundry lists full of issues with this year's team and some of those issues could have been solved in the draft this season.  Unfortunately, the players the Rams drafted have simply not performed and look to lack the preparation, especially with Quinn, in order to help the Rams stumble back to respectability.

And the blame should fall directly on the shoulders of Rams general manager Billy Devaney.

If the Rams are ever going to make it back to the playoffs, they must draft better and have their picks contribute right away.

There is no reason that the Rams should not have an impact rookie contributing immediately and making an impact.  Every other team seems to have found instant talent that can be put on the field.

Just look at DeMarco Murray.  He certainly made a big impact in just his sixth professional game.  The Rams rookies watched it first hand on Sunday.
