It is still young into the NHL season and the St. Louis Blues have already fought valiantly to even their record at 4-4 after an impressive road victory at Philadelphia over the weekend.

While the season is still in its early stages, there are certainly some glaring statistics that stand out regarding the Blues first eight games.

Most notably has been the poor and feeble play of the Blues power play unit.

The Blues rank last in power play percentage, scoring just twice in 27 power play opportunities, or just 7.4% of the time.

After adding power forwards Jason Arnott and Jamie Langenbrunner to the mix, many believed that the veterans would provide the stability necessary for the Blues young forwards to finally blossom.

Coupled with talented young offensive defenseman Alex Pietrangelo and Kevin Shattenkirk, hopes were high for the offense coming into the season.

But early on, the power play has clearly struggled to get on track.

The Blues will travel to Western Canada on Wednesday night to take on the Vancouver Canucks. If they hope to have a successful three game road trip, the Blues will need to start lighting the lamp with the man advantage and converting on these key opportunities.

  2. I will blast PK after this road trip if it still brutal too. PK goes along with goalie play, should improve with Halak on the bench
