Watching the helpless St. Louis Rams defensive backs try to cover the Baltimore Ravens receivers in this past Sunday's 37-7 thumping was embarrassing for Rams fans.
According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, help is on the way.
In order to try and save face and improve a decimated coverage team, the Rams have agreed to terms with veteran corner back Rod Hood.
Hood is 29 years old and is 5 foot 11 inches tall and weighs 201 pounds. Hood will provide desperately needed depth at corner back as the Rams have struggled to cover anybody since the injury to standout corner Ron Bartell.
Hood's best season came in 2007, when he intercepted 5 passes and deflected 21 others as a member of the Arizona Cardinals.
Hood missed the entire 2010 season with a torn ACL injury that was sufferred during off-season workouts with the Tennessee Titans.
In order to make room for Hood on the roster, the Rams cut saftey Jermale Hines, a fifth round draft pick in this year's NFL Draft.
Hood figures to get thrust into action sooner than some may think, especially if Justin King continues to struggle in pass coverage.

The Rams have no corners of value. They can't guard ANYBODY! This is why we have fewer sack than last tear at this time. When the opponent's QB has a clear shot at his receivers, he can release the ball quickly and not feel any pressure from the Defensive line. If we had cover-corners who actually belonged at the pro level, the opposing QB would have to hold the ball a bit longer, thus giving our pass rushers more time to get to him. Rams haven't had a decent corner since Aeneas Williams. This is why they're giving up an average of 32 points a game.
