Two days after St. Louis Cardinals stars Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday publicly complained about playing in annoying shadows in the Cardinals 4-1 Monday afternoon loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cardinals have announced that there will be changes in next year's schedule.
Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak explained to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that midafternoon games will be moved to earlier in the day or be scheduled as evening contests.
"I talked to those guys. I recognize it as a safety issue and it will be addressed," Mozeliak said.
While the move is being made to appease his stars, Mozeliak may be making the right choice and gain an advantage in the standings next season.
The Cardinals are just 21-25 this season during day contests with a team batting average of .241. Compare that to the Cardinals 54-42 record and .283 average during night contests and it is obvious to see that Tony La Russa's club is much better in night contests.
