Normally feature running backs that have five plus years of experience and a couple of Pro Bowl appearances under their belts generally do not see much time during preseason games.

But after a change at offensive coordinator and narrowly missing the playoffs behind rookie quarterback Sam Bradford last season, Rams running back Steven Jackson wanted to be sure he felt comfortable in the Rams offense.

In Friday night's 14-10 Rams preseason victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, Jackson and the Rams offense looked plenty comfortable.

Jackson ran the ball on five of the Rams first six snaps from scrimmage on an opening drive touchdown and set the tone for the rest of the game and possibly the rest of the season.

The Rams offense plans to attack people with Steven Jackson.

"We wanted to come out as a team, and especially as an offense, and set the tempo," Jackson told reporters after the game. "Last week we had some up and down possessions, but this week we wanted to reestablish ourselves."

Jackson played most of the first half in victory, carrying the ball 15 times for 72 yards and also snagged a reception for five yards in what turned out to be a good day's work.

Jackson is coming a Pro Bowl season and the eight year veteran will be looking for another all-star type season.

If Friday night's performance is an indicator, Jackson will find himself in Hawaii at the end of the season and the Rams may find themselves in the playoffs.
