Yet, despite a hip injury that has kept the star running back out of practice the past two days, Jackson plans on playing in the Rams second preseason game on Saturday night at the Edward Jones Dome against the Tennessee Titans.
Jackson says it is important for him to be on the field and familiarize himself with the Rams new offense, installed by new offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
"We're all fairly new to it so you just want to make sure you're executing the plays and doing the things coach McDaniels wants," Jackson said.
Jackson is coming off of his sixth consecutive 1,000 yard season and looks to improve upon the six touchdowns he scored in 2010.
Jackson feels that with the way the offense is coming together early in the preseason, that he is ready for a big season.
"I'm very excited about where we're going as an offense," he said. "I'm anticipating a big year not only for myself but for the team as well."
