Salas caught two balls on that fourth quarter, game-winning drive and finished the evening with three catches for 25 yards in the Rams victory.
The Rams have an abundance of wide receivers in camp vying for a few available spots. The fourth round draft pick did his part to make it clear that he should be one of the wideouts that play in the Rams first regular season game at home against the Philadelphia Eagles.
For any rookie the adjustment to the NFL is huge step forward. Salas, who missed the team's first preseason game, displayed that he has the potential to make that jump and is beginning to feel more comfortable.
"I'm getting more comfortable," Salas said. "This was a great experience for me. It felt good to finally get out here on the field."
Salas knows that his job is not over yet as anything could happen in the final two preseason games. Donnie Avery, Danario Alexander and fellow rookie Austin Pettis are also vying for roster spots and Salas acknowledged that the competition is fierce but healthy.
"It's tough. Everybody's good, and everybody's a good guy, too, personally," he said.
Salas certainly gave himself an edge with his impressive performance on Saturday night.
