It didn't take long to realize that the Cardinals did not come to play.
After three hitters the Dodgers led on a three run home run by Matt Kemp and never looked back in a 13-2 victory over the Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Monday night.
Lohse lasted just three innings in the contest, allowing eight earned runs on eight Dodgers hits.
While Lohse struggled on the hill, the Cardinals offense remained silent and stagnant. Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw shut down the Redbirds, allowing just six hits and a pair of walks while striking out eight and picking up the victory.
The Cardinals finally mustered a pair of runs in the ninth inning behind a Jon Jay single, but it was too little and way too late as the game was out of hand.
Things got so bad that the Cardinals turned to Skip Schumaker to pitch an inning of relief. Schumaker promptly allowed a two-run home run to former Cardinals utility infielder and light-hitting Aaron Miles to cap off an absolutely embarrassing performance.
The Cardinals are now 10 games out of first place in the National League Central Division as the Milwaukee Brewers won again.
This has quickly turned into a series to forget for the Cardinals and likely has ended any chance the Cardinals had at making the playoffs this season.
