Going back to early in his college days at the University of Missouri, St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danario Alexander has had multiple issues with his left knee.  The 6 foot, 5 inch Alexander is just 23 years old, but has already had five surgeries on his left knee in his young career.

After going undrafted last season because of health concerns, Alexander got himself healthy enough to catch 20 balls for 306 yards and a touchdown in 8 games for the Rams in 2010.

Entering this season, Alexander is in a heated battle to make the roster as the Rams are suddenly deep at wide receiver.  Unfortunately, Alexander's knee is acting up on him once again.  Alexander aggravated that left knee in the Rams 17-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Luckily for Alexander, an MRI on Monday revealed no damage to the knee.

"It's not that anything happened," coach Steve Spagnuolo said. "It's just that it feels funny on him. We just want to make sure we're not dealing with anything serious, and put his mind at ease."

The problem for Alexander is that his mind can not be at ease.  He is fighting for a roster spot and missing significant time will only put in doubt his status of claiming a roster spot.

Alexander, if healthy, gives the Rams the opportunity of having the tall, athletic deep threat they covet so much as a weapon for quarterback Sam Bradford.  Alexander displayed flashes of what he can bring to the table in 2010.

But his health will always be a concern and may end up keeping him off the Rams roster this season.

  1. There was a reason why he went undrafted....even though he led the nation in receiving yards his senior year at MU...

If you had to bet $1000 dollars on him making or getting cut from the team...what would you take?
