Missouri Tigers head football coach Gary Pinkel is putting together quite a recruiting class.  In June, Pinkel received a verbal commitment from offensive line prospect Evan Boehm.  Today, Maty Mauk announced via his Facebook page that he intended to play his college football at Mizzou.

Mauk, who is from Kenton, Ohio and a four star recruit according to ESPN, also considered Notre Dame, Michigan, Vanderbilt, and Illinois before committing to Mizzou.

Mauk is the number 19 ranked quarterback recruit according to Rivals.com.

Mauk is a bit shorter than the prototypical quarterback recruit, but he put up some monster numbers during his Junior season.  Mauk threw for 5670 yards and 69 touchdowns while scrambing for 974 more on the ground.

Mauk's shorter stature and on-field performance has already drawn comparisons to former Mizzou standout and current New Orleans Saints back-up quarterback Chase Daniel.

“If he were a few inches taller and had a more refined delivery (he tends to drop down to three-quarters too often) he’d be a kid with 30 plus offers," Mike Farrell of PowerMizzou.com said.  "This could be another situation where a bunch of schools end up kicking themselves because they didn’t go on him, just like with Daniel.”
