Every season the Mackey Award is given to college football's top tight end.

In 2008, former Mizzou standout Chase Coffman won the award.

This season, head coach Gary Pinkel may has another tight end that is being given serious pre-season consideration for the award.

Mizzou senior tight end Michael Egnew was named to the pre-season Mackey Award List on Thursday.

Egnew, who stands at 6 foot 6 inches and 235 pounds, was a finalist for the award last season and was named a consensus first team All-American for his play in the Tigers 2010 season.

During his junior campaign Egnew caught 90 passes for 762 yards and five touchdowns.

Egnew figures to once again be a vital cog in the Mizzou aerial attack that will be led by sophomore quarterback James Franklin.
