St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday has visited the disabled list twice this season.  Holliday underwent an emergency appendectomy during the first week of the season and just recently returned from the DL after recovering from a quad strain.

Despite missing so much time, Holliday has still been good enough to warrant a selection to this year's MLB All-Star game played in Arizona. Holliday's selection to this year's team is his fifth in his career, something that he appreciates.

"It's always a very big honor and something as a player you get excited about and are appreciative of," Holliday said. "If you have an All-Star first half, you're usually doing pretty well. It's a goal that I would think most guys set out to achieve. It's nice."

Holliday is hitting .321 on the season with 10 home runs and 40 RBI's in just 60 games played this season.

Meanwhile Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina was also selected as an All-Star reserve.  It is Molina's third appearance in the Midsummer Classic.

Molina's selection was certainly deserved.  Molina is generally known for his defensive prow-less behind the plate, but he has done damage with the bat this year as well.

Molina is hitting .285 on the season with five home runs and 31 RBI's.  It is obvious that Molina has worked hard to get better at the plate, something that Molina takes pride in.

"Every time you see a guy vote for you, that kind of tells you that you're working hard," Molina said, "and you're doing your best on the field. You can feel good about that."

Holliday and Molina will be joining teammate Lance Berkman in Arizona.  Berkman was selected by the fans as a starter in the game.

Missing from the roster is injured first baseman Albert Pujols.
