Today, to the delight of new quarterback James Franklin and Pinkel, Mizzou landed a nationally ranked prospect out of Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Evan Boehm, ranked as the number three offensive guard nationally by Rivals Inc. and number 55 in the ESPNU 150, announced via Twitter that he will be a member of the Missouri Tigers in the fall of 2012.
Landing Boehm was a huge pick-up for Mizzou. While the Tigers have generally built a reputation of having an explosive aerial attack offensively, the offensive line is vital to Mizzou's success in its spread attack. At 6 foot 3 inches and 290 pounds, Boehm certainly has the size and agility to develop into a major force on the offensive line.
Boehm said that coming to Mizzou was something that not only Pinkel and the Mizzou players made easy, but also the support the fans have shown the program over the past several years.
"They showed me the love that not many showed," said Boehm. "That's what really got to me. It wasn't only the football players and the football coaches there, but it was everyone there. I'm very blessed to have this opportunity."
Boehm was not shy about what he expects to happen once he lands on campus in Columbia.
"Coach Pinkel is taking Missouri to the next level," Boehm said. "You can tell that Missouri is going to one of the big names of college football. I want to be a part of it. I want to be part of the reason why Missouri wins a national championship."
Boehm might be right about Pinkel and Mizzou. The Tigers have had success over the past several season, but having top prospects that believe that the Tigers could possibly win a National Championship is certainly another step in the right direction for Mizzou.
