Boggs Returns, Cardinals Ship Lynn Back To Memphis

One night after picking up his first victory at the major league level, the St. Louis Cardinals have shipped rookie starting pitcher Lance Lynn back to Memphis.

But Lynn did not hop on Highway 55 before leaving an impression on Cardinals manager Tony La Russa.

"It would be nice to give him another one or two (starts)," said La Russa. "It's worked out well. He's really got exciting talent."

Lynn made two starts during his short stint in St. Louis, posting a 1-1 record with a 5.23 ERA in 10.1 innings pitched for the Cardinals.

While Lynn gets shown the door back to Memphis as the Cardinals prepare for the return of Kyle McClellan from the disabled list, the organization called up a familiar face to support the over-worked bullpen this weekend in Milwaukee.

Mitchell Boggs has been re-called from Memphis just three weeks after being sent to Triple AAA to become a starter.  Boggs will serve as a long relief option and likely will be sent back to Memphis when McClellan is ready to return.

Boggs has made four starts during his stint for the Redbirds, posting an 0-2 record with a 2.45 ERA in 14.1 innings.
