Blues Give Chris Porter One Year Contract Extension

The St. Louis Blues, despite facing an ownership situation that is in flux, continue to hand out contract extensions to their young players.

The organization gave forward Chris Porter a one year contract extension on Monday, which will secure the 27 year old forward services as a member of the Blues next season.

Porter, a member of Team Canada in this year's IIHF World Championships in Slovakia, played in 45 games for the Blues last season, scoring three goals and tallying seven total points on the season.  Porter's main highlight from last year included a two goal performance on March 30th, a game that saw the Blues thrash the Detroit Red Winds 10-3.

Porter's contract is a split deal that will pay him $600,000 when in St. Louis and $105,000 when he is in Peoria as Porter figures to fight for a roster spot with a number of other players this season.

Porter joins forwards T.J. Hensick and Patrik Berglund along with defenseman Roman Polak and Nikita Nikitin among players the Blues have given contracts to for next season.
