Fans should get even more excited that prized infield prospect Zack Cox was promoted to Double AA this week.
Cox, a member of the organization's 40 man roster, made his Springfield Cardinals debut on Wednesday night, collecting a pair of hits and an RBI while reaching base four times.
Cox was promoted to Springfield after playing just 42 games in Single A Palm Beach this season, where he hit .335 with three home runs and 20 RBI's.
The left-handed swinging Cox has been primarily used as third baseman thus far in his minor league career, but at some point you would have to figure that the organization will give the slick hitting 21 year old time at second base as well.
Cox could figure into the major league equation sooner than many think with his ability to swing the bat and his presence on the 40 man roster.
But for now, it will be good to watch last year's first round pick blossom in Springfield.
