Tallet Leaves Game With Left Elbow Tightness

The St. Louis Cardinals relieving corps welcomed Brian Tallet back with open arms two weeks ago when the left-handed reliever returned from an injury to his non-throwing hand.  But the Cardinals saw Tallet possibly suffer another injury on Friday night.

The Cardinals yanked Tallet from Friday night's 10-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies after Tallet had shown signs of elbow discomfort in his left throwing arm.  Tony La Russa pulled Tallet out of the game with 3-2 count on the first batter Tallet faced in the eighth inning.

"It wasn't really actually anything that I was overly concerned about," Tallet said. "They came out to get me. It wasn't like I called them out. It was just one of those things. They wanted to make sure it was precautionary. No reason to try to overdo something that could possibly get hurt."

It is believed that Tallet will be available to pitch again in the weekend series with Colorado, but anytime you have to be removed in the middle of a game, it is a bad sign that serious injury could be lingering.

Tallet has pitched well for the Cardinals this season while healthy, posting a 3.38 ERA over 5.1 innings in eight appearances this season.
