Mizzou To Play In Jimmy V Classic

After a spring that started in turmoil when former head coach Mike Anderson left the University of Missouri for Arkansas, things continue to improve for the Mizzou basketball program.

It was announced over the weekend that Mizzou will play in this year's Jimmy V classic at Madison Garden in New York.

The Tigers are scheduled to play the Villanova Wildcats in the annual event that is organized to raise money for cancer research.

This is great news for coach Frank Haith.

It is the exact type of exposure the university needs in order to get its feet back on the ground after Anderson's departure.

The game will give the Tigers exposure for future recruiting purposes and will also get next year's team ready for Big 12 Conference play.  Villanova is annually one of the top teams in the powerful Big East Conference, so it certainly will be a test for next year's Tigers.

No date has been set for the event, but it will be good to see the Tigers on ESPN playing at Madison Square Garden in this special game put together for a good cause.
