Things just keep getting better for Mizzou's new coach Frank Haith. Haith landed a top recruit in Tyrek Coger out of Raleigh, North Carolina over the weekend.
And now Haith has also landed a top recruit inside the state of Missouri.
According to the Kansas City Star, Ishmail Wainwright, a sophomore at Raytown South High School, has verbally committed to play for Haith in Columbia beginning in 2013.
Haith is putting together a dynamic class of 2013. More importantly, Wainwright's verbal commitment is Haith's first step in sealing the state's borders and keeping the homegrown talent at Mizzou. Wainwright told the Kansas City Star that it was an important part of his decision when he gave Haith and Mizzou his verbal commitment.
“The talent that’s in Missouri should stay in Missouri. It’s the hometown loving,” said Wainright.
Wainwright is a six foot five inch forward that played primarily down low for his high school team. But at Mizzou, he projects as a small forward. ESPN ranks Wainwright as the 16th rated small forward in the 2013 recruiting class. Here is a scouting report from ESPN.
Hopefully other top talent in the state is listening. Frank Haith looks to be dedicated to building a solid program and Mizzou fans can only hope other recruits within the borders follow in Wainwright's footsteps.

Wainright has a college ready body, long arms and soft hands. His physical qualities alone make him an elite level prospect, but his feel for the game on both ends of the floor and fundamentals will allow him to be one of the better players in 2013 class.
